Aikido for Kids

Rishinkan Dojo runs a bi-weekly program for children ages 6-12.
Classes are on Tuesday 5:30pm and Sunday 9am.

Aikido teaches self-defense, discipline, confidence and stretches a student’s limits. Looking for an extracurricular which will grow as they do? Come try a class today.

Learning self-reliance

Aikido is an excellent fit for children, teaching self-reliance, fitness, care and cooperation. We teach from beginners up, blending the core techniques with falling and rolling practice and games designed to foster balance and concentration.

Classes tend to start with light warm-ups, move to rolling and falling practice, simplified technique and close with games. As their skills progress over time, we move from simple balance breaks and rolls to wristlocks and throws, and practice with the sword and staff. Even the youngest children can learn and enjoy the practice.

Students can expect to be belt-tested around every two months.

“A heart is full of fertile seeds, waiting to sprout.”
